Randall Walsh

Randall Walsh is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh and directs the Department’s Master’s Degree program in Quantitative Economics. He is an applied micro economist studying issues related to cities, the environment, race and political economy – in both historical and contemporaneous contexts. His research has appeared in leading academic journals including the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, the International Economic Review, and the Review of Economics and Statistics.


He is a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research and currently represents the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE) on the board of The World Council of Environmental and Resource Economics Associations (WCEREA). His research has been supported by both the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health as well as the Center for Equitable Growth. Walsh received his Ph.D. from Duke University and a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh, he served on the faculty at the University of Colorado.
