Anastasia “Stasia” Lopez is a Professional Development Faculty Instructor, Director of MQE Career Development and Recruitment and also the Economics Development Coordinator in the Department of Economics where she began her appointment in July 2022. In her role, she manages the career development and recruitment for MQE students, teaches ECON 0900 and career advises economics students, and facilitates professional development workshops and topics to the MQE students. Stasia is a Certified Master of Career Services, a NACE-Certified Career Coach, an MBTI Certified Practitioner and a Certified Start Smart and Work Smart AAUW Salary Negotiation Facilitator.
Prior to coming back to Pitt, she worked at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) as a two-time Director of Career Services and Student Engagement and Adjunct Professor teaching a Job Search course. She also worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Workforce Development, helping underemployed populations from immigrants and refugees, veterans, people with disabilities and other diverse groups find gainful employment. Stasia worked at Pitt before as a Career Consultant for the Arts & Sciences, Pre-Business and Careers Abroad. She got her start in career development in 2011 where she worked as a Graduate Assistant at Western Michigan University in the Career and Student Employment Services Office while pursuing her graduate degree.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Career Counselors’ Consortium, publishes career and international education articles on Wandering Educators, and used to co-own a construction company with her husband for 10 years. Stasia is a 2nd generation Greek American and grew up in a multilingual, multiethnic home and is a first-generation college graduate. She earned her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership in Higher Education and Student Affairs degree from Western Michigan University, her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Robert Morris University and studied abroad in Rome, Italy. She's been to 14 countries and counting! She’s natively from Pittsburgh, married to her Hispanic husband, Fernando since 2011, is a proud mom to her sweet daughter Maya and adorable black cat, Zorro.
