Professor of Economics Emeritus. Holding Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in economics from Iowa State University, and a B.A. in mathematics from Southwestern College, Professor Gruver joined the University of Pittsburgh Faculty in 1970. Research interests include environmental economics, economic development, and quantitative policy modeling. Studied the environmental impact of the steel industry and the role of the introduction of new mini mill technology with respect to regional economic development and regional environmental quality. Primarily taught courses related to environmental and resource economics, economic development, and quantitative policy models. Was a Fulbright Professor in Kenya (1976-77) and served as a faculty member (1988) and Academic Dean (2001) on Semester at Sea.
