Marcela is a PhD student in the Department of Economics. Her research interests lie in Health Economics, Development Economics and Political Economy.
Before starting her doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Marcela earned her M.Sc. in Public Administration and Government from the São Paulo School of Business Administration (EASP) at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). In her master's thesis, Marcela studied the electoral impact of implementing new basic health care facilities. As a Research Assistant, she worked on (i) how infectious diseases during pregnancy impact maternal and children health care outcomes, (ii) the health care in the Brazilian Legal Amazon, and (iii) the estimation of resources for expanding primary health care in Brazil. Marcela holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV).
