Graduate Student Teaching Award

This award is given to a graduate student who served as primary instructor of a summer course, in recognition for teaching excellence. The name of the winner is engraved on a plaque by the department’s main entrance. Awards are made annually and are publicly announced at the Welcome Picnic the department holds at the beginning of each academic year late in August.

Eligibility

All graduate students who taught their own course during the summer term are eligible. 

Application Process

To be considered for the Graduate Student Teaching Award student must submit:

  • A 1-2 page teaching statement including teaching goals and specific examples of how these goals are achieved in the course
  • A course syllabus
  • A sample of a representative teaching material
  • Official OMET scores for the course

Applications should be submitted to the Graduate Program Administrator by mid August.

The committee selecting the winner is composed by the Director of the Graduate Studies and the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies.
